A couple of weeks ago I decided it was time to hit the reset button. At first I thought about a week long road trip, but with S just getting back home and the holidays being over, it felt like the wrong time to be gone so long.
When we started talking about staying closer to home the Colcord Hotel in downtown OKC was immediately at the top of the list. We’ve been before and always enjoy our stay. For me it’s the perfect combination of an era I feel like I truly missed out on, mixed with today’s modern touches and convenience.
Built in 1910 it was the first skyscraper in OKC! Don’t worry, it’s been completely renovated but they have preserved the remarkable architecture of its era.
As soon as you pull up allure of the Colcord pulls you in. You’re immediately greeted with a friendly face, and everyone you come in contact with for the entire stay is just as personable.
All of the rooms are great but we always choose to stay in the Colcord Suite, I dream of the day I upgrade to the presidential suite even if it’s just for the night. The Colcord Suite is amazing whether you’re getting ready for a fun night out on the town, staying in for some much need relaxation or your needing to get some work done. The view overlooking downtown OKC is amazing.
While OKC has plenty of great restaurants, you would really be missing out if you don’t eat @flintokc. The atmosphere is cozy and sophisticated, the food is an eye rolling orgasmic experience. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Rarely do I go out to eat and not have notes, but there is nothing to complain about at Flint, Chef Patrick knows what he’s doing.
Turn down service is another great perk, as is the coffee or tea they bring right to your room in the morning. I love waking up after a great sleep, having a cup of coffee then having a long steamy shower before check out.
Another great thing about the Colcord? They’ll text you! No more awkward calls to the front desk! For someone that’s always a little anxious about calling, the texts are an excellent feature, as is the Alexa enabled in room concierge.
If you are looking for a special place to go when visiting the OKC area don’t miss the Colcord Hotel. I’m already planning my next trip!
